I tell you now to avoid any anxiety or stress from surprise, to keep your heart healthy. The announcement is that official\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.minecraft.net\/en-us\/article\/render-dragon-and-nvidia-ray-tracing\">ray tracing support is coming<\/a> to the Windows 10 Bedrock edition of Minecraft. Video here; it&#8217;s lovely:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Minecraft with RTX | Official GeForce RTX Ray Tracing Reveal Trailer\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/91kxRGeg9wQ?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now the gripping terminology post:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I&#8217;ve seen &#8220;DirectX Raytracing&#8221; and &#8220;DXR&#8221; used for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DirectX_Raytracing\">Microsoft&#8217;s DirectX 12 API extension<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; perfect. My concern with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minecraft.net\/en-us\/article\/render-dragon-and-nvidia-ray-tracing\">today&#8217;s announcement<\/a> is seeing &#8220;DirectX R&#8221; and &#8220;DirectX R raytracing&#8221; getting used as terms. Please don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>OK, I feel better now. Go enjoy the video! It&#8217;s nice stuff, and I say that as an entirely unbiased source, other than being employed by NVIDIA and loving ray tracing and Minecraft. I particularly enjoy the beams o&#8217; light effects, having <a href=\"http:\/\/erich.realtimerendering.com\/RonFront.jpg\">played with these<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/magazine\/sa\/1991\/02-01\/\">long ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Minecraft fans: It will work on only the Windows 10 Bedrock Edition, not the Java Edition, so <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/sonicether\">Sonic Ether&#8217;s Unbelievable Shaders project<\/a>\u00a0(which offers some ray tracing, but currently does not use RTX hardware) is unaffected.
