These shaders include ray-tracing, path-tracing, and other effects. They&#8217;re not the easiest thing to install: you need <a href=\"https:\/\/files.minecraftforge.net\/\">Forge<\/a>, then need <a href=\"https:\/\/optifine.net\/home\">OptiFine<\/a>, then SEUS (but not <a href=\"https:\/\/sonicether.com\/\">the old SEUS<\/a>), and adding something like the <a href=\"https:\/\/matteorizzo.com\/realistico\/\">Realistico resource pack<\/a> with high-res normal and specular maps makes it all that much better.<\/p>\n<p>I toured around <a href=\"http:\/\/vokselia.com\">our ancient (circa 2010-2014) world<\/a>\u00a0and made <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Mqrh58-llrc\">a short video<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of the results. Here&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/photos.app.goo.gl\/ipAmV9ZUtkxaSMn99\">an album showing some of the effects<\/a><\/strong> (and some of the limitations).<\/p>\n<p>Overall I love the look &#8211; it adds a solidity and realism to the world. That said, it&#8217;s a bit difficult to see while underground vs. vanilla Minecraft. OptiFine has a &#8220;have the torch in hand illuminate the area&#8221; which SEUS doesn&#8217;t support, so dark areas are, by default, quite dark indeed. So, great for touring around, more challenging if building underground.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a shot with bump and specular maps, some reflection of the environment, and ripples from rain.
