The CFP is short, so I&#8217;ve included it below. Please pass on the URL <a href=\"http:\/\/gamedevelopmenttools.com\/\">http:\/\/gamedevelopmenttools.com\/<\/a> for the book&#8217;s website to anyone you think would be interested.<\/p>\n<p>To me, the things I most appreciate from Marwan are his two articles in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/tog.acm.org\/resources\/shaderx\/\">ShaderX 2: Tips &amp; Tricks<\/a> (free for download). <\/em>These are still relevant today: \u201cAdvanced Image Processing with DirectX\u00ae 9 Pixel Shaders\u201d (written with Jason Mitchell, now at Valve, and Evan Hart, and the article \u201cImage Effects with DirectX\u00ae 9 Pixel Shaders\u201d. He&#8217;s worked for a number of games companies since his ATI days.<\/p>\n<p>The CFP:<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to submit a proposal for an\u00a0 innovative article to be included in a forthcoming book,\u00a0Game Development Tools, which will be edited by Marwan Y. Ansari and published by A. K. Peters. We expect to publish the volume in time for GDC 2011.<\/p>\n<p>We are open to any tools articles that you feel would make a valuable contribution to this book.<\/p>\n<p>Some topics that would be of interest include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Content Pipeline tools (creation, streamlining, management)<\/li>\n<li>Graphics\/Rendering tools<\/li>\n<li>Profiling tools<\/li>\n<li>Collada import\/export\/inspection<\/li>\n<li>Sound tools<\/li>\n<li>In-Game debugging tools<\/li>\n<li>Memory management &amp; analysis<\/li>\n<li>Console tools (single and cross platform)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This list is not meant to be exclusive and other topics are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule for the book is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>June 30th \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; All proposals in.<\/p>\n<p>July 15th \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Final list of accepted authors are informed and begin articles.<\/p>\n<p>August 15th\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; First draft in to editor<\/p>\n<p>September 15th\u00a0 &#8211; Drafts sent to other book authors for peer review<\/p>\n<p>October 15th \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Final articles in to editor<\/p>\n<p>November 30th \u00a0 &#8211; Final articles to publisher (A K Peters)<\/p>\n<p>GDC 2011 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Book is released.<\/p>\n<p>Please send proposals to marwan at gamedevelopmenttools dot com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marwan Ansari has put out a call for participation (i.e., articles) for an upcoming book, &#8220;Game Development Tools&#8221;.
