Wildflowers Identified: Queen-of-the-Prairie

Queen-of-the-Prairie has these characteristics:
- 5 petals
- cluster or spike of flowers (a spike is a long cluster, with the flowers along the stem)
- 1/8 to 3/8 inches flower width
- pink to red flower color
- blue to purple flower color
- blooms in June
- blooms in July
- plant height two feet or more
- leaf petiole present (has a leafstalk)
- alternate leaf arrangement on the stem
- leaf edge has at least 4 teeth per inch
- deeply cut leaf edge
- branched leaf veins
- compound leaves are pinnate - leaflets arranged along a midrib
